On behalf of the Australian School Library Association ASLA - Tasmanian Awards, I am pleased to congratulate Isobel Williams, Teacher Librarian and AST – ConnectED/ Library at Ogilvie High School, for winning the prestigious Doreen Hopkins' Medal.

This Tasmanian award recognises Teacher Librarians who have made an outstanding contribution to teaching and learning within their schools and significantly contributed to raising the profile of the profession.

Isobel's longstanding commitment to the work of ASLA at both the local and the national level have been an inspiration to her colleagues. Her willingness to take on leadership roles within the profession, most recently as President of ASLA, have allowed Isobel to be an advocate for the profession and to highlight the critical role school libraries perform in the development of literacy and information skills.

Isobel is a most deserving recipient of the Doreen Hopkins Medal and a celebratory dinner in her honour will take place in Hobart towards the end of next month. Details TBA.
