Date: June & July          RSVP: August
Location: Statewide

Intended Audience: Primary Schools

Primary school children throughout Tasmania have an opportunity to demonstrate their artistic skills by painting a 30 cm high penguin made from plywood for the inaugural Australian Antarctic Festival being held in Hobart on Sept 8-11.

The penguins will be on show along the Hobart waterfront during the four day event with participating schools having their own displays.

Schools will be given up to 100 penguins depending on the size of each school and prizes will be given by the Mawson's Huts Foundation. The name of each school will be clearly displayed for each rookery, explained Foundation chairman David Jensen.

Schools wishing to participate should contact the Mawson's Huts Foundation or ring David Jensen 0414 333381 to arrange to collect their penguins which can be painted anyway they like.

Also displayed among the rookeries be will be 20 one metre tall penguins made from fibre glass which are being painted by 20 different Tasmanian artists."
