Dark Mofo invites schools to participate in the Ogoh ogoh project as part of this year's Dark Mofo festival. Following the overwhelming success of last year's series of workshops for students, the Asia Institute Tasmania has extended the workshop program this year to accommodate more students in a larger venue. And we are pleased to showcase an internationally renowned kecak master from Bali.

Culture and Arts Workshops 90 mins
Students will:
  • Learn about Balinese culture and arts through activities
  • Explore the traditional kecak monkey-chant dance and enjoy a short performance by Ketut Rina, the kecak master
  • Make masks and offerings to be included in the final procession and burning of the Tasmanian ogoh ogoh on June 19
  • Get a sneak preview of the making of the new Tasmanian ogoh ogoh.
All materials provided. Cost: $5 per student or $200 per school.
