Public Health Services in the Department of Health and Human Services is launching the Healthy Young People HYP website. The third mission to be released is 'Respect Every Body.' More than 75 per cent of young Tasmanian's report body image as an issue of personal concern with body dissatisfaction having increased significantly in recent years.
There are many ways schools can support positive body image and all teachers, school staff, students and families can be involved. Healthy Young People HYP is a set of free resources for secondary school students, teachers and school staff, youth workers and anyone who works with young people with great information about positive body image.
HYP also has free resources on drinking enough water, adequate sleep, physical activity, healthy eating and less sedentary time. It includes teaching resources that link to the Australian curriculum. To see the Respect Every Body resource visit: www.dhhs.tas.gov.au/mwew/hyp/body_image
Look out for the next of the HYP six missions to be released soon!
