Have students with a passion for making a difference in the world and solving international problems? Who have always wanted to be involved with UN Youth Australia, but are too young for other programs? Who may be keen to learn about these issues? The UN Youth Voice competition, open to grades 7-10, could be for them.

Voice is a public speaking competition that sees participants propose solutions to pressing global issues, lobby for their consideration and defend their validity. It is a competition designed to allow young Australians the opportunity to engage with global affairs, provide new solutions to global issues, and most importantly to have their voices heard. Competitors will present a solution to one of the given problems facing our world, for 3 minutes in the Junior competition Grades 7 and 8, and 5 minutes in the Senior competition Grades 9 and 10. Following this, the judges will ask questions of competitors, to examine their solution further.

Preliminary rounds will be held in Hobart on Friday 30 October, in Devonport on Saturday 31 October, and Launceston on the 1 November, with the top five speakers from each age category advancing to the State Final in Hobart on the 7 November. The winners of both categories will have the opportunity to compete in the National Final in April 2016.
