National Carers' Week is coming up from 11-17 October 2015.

We are asking all schools to get involved in National Carers Week by hosting an event to celebrate and show appreciation of young carers in schools.

Young carers contribute so much to our community and yet they often experience social isolation, poor physical and mental health, difficulties with participating in education and employment.

Within the department we are aiming to create carer-friendly environments to recognise and support students and employees with carer responsibilities.

There are a number of ways your school can get involved in National Carers Week this year. You can organise a 'Take a Break' event at your school, this could be a morning tea, afternoon tea, school assembly celebration, guest speaker presentation, or Carers Song performance.

We've got the lyrics and music sheet for all schools to get involved in signing the Careroke Carers Song. Check out Taroona High School students' performance from last year:
Hopefully this may inspire your students to take on the challenge and raise awareness at the same time.
