Did you know that the YMCA invented Fathers Day?

This year to celebrate we are launching a new award, the YMCA Tasmanian Community Father of the Year. The YMCA Tasmanian Community Father of the year celebrates the significant role fathers and male role models play in our community, and acknowledges that ordinary people can have an extraordinary impact on children's lives.

The YMCA of Hobart will be conducting the Tasmanian Community Father of the Year Campaign from Wednesday 15 July to Wednesday 19 August 2015. To enter, children aged 12 and under from across the state are asked to express in pictures or words how they feel about their fathers or father figures.

We'd love your organisation to participate in our local Community Father of the Year campaign. Entry forms are available from our website, and should be returned to us by Wednesday 19 August.

Imagine the buzz at your organisation if one of your local dads is selected as the Tasmanian Community Father of the Year for 2015!

Kids always appreciate taking the time to think about their fathers, or important men in their lives – be that their uncles, brothers, grandfathers, carers or a close family friend. In some cases, as you will be aware, the most significant male in some children's lives may be a child's teacher or coach.

Please contact the YMCA of Hobart, Programs and Activities Coordinator at as soon as possible if you wish to participate and to receive an information pack.
