TasTAFE would like to offer Teachers Assistants within Southern schools the opportunity to undertake an Accredited Disability skill set. The skill set will focus on core skills and knowledge needed to support children with disabilities within an educational environment.

The Skills Set will consist of the following units out of the CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability:
  •  CHCDIS301C Work effectively with people with a disability
  •  CHCDIS323A Contribute to skill development and maintenance
  •  CHCICS305B Provide behavior support in the context of individualized plans
  •  CHCCS413B Support individuals with autism spectrum disorder

The skill set is flexible and designed to meet the needs of people who are currently working in industry. There will be an initial two day workshop that will then be followed by six fortnightly workshops. Each workshop will give the opportunity to fully understand the essential knowledge and skills required for the units and will provide excellent opportunities to discuss best practice with colleagues from other organisations in a supported and respectful environment.
