Location: Statewide

Intended Audience: 15 - 18 year old Tasmanian Residents

The Youth Leadership Challenge is a ten-day youth development voyage aboard STV Windeward Bound involving 20 Tasmanian youth aged 15 to 18 -- ten positive Tasmanian mentors, and ten New Tasmanian's from refugee backgrounds. This program promotes understanding, inclusiveness, and community by bringing together young people of vastly different backgrounds, and giving them the opportunity to connect and grow with one another in the unique environment of a traditional sailing ship!

Youth with an interest in mentoring must submit an application, and will need to fundraise $1,500 if selected to help support the participation of a New Tasmanian from a refugee background. All are encouraged to apply. Financial hardship scholarships available.

Youth from refugee backgrounds who are interested in participating at no cost should contact Stephanie Katz directly, or inquire with the Migrant Resource Centre of Southern Tasmania about the application process.

No sailing experience required - just an interest in creating a more inclusive Tasmanian community, and a sense of adventure!
