Mathematics and Science Specialist - Teacher Development Initiative

Contact: Sarah Williams, Professional Learning Institute e:
Date: Term III          RSVP: 23 April 2015
Location: Statewide

Intended Audience: Department of Education teachers (with 3-5 years experience)

The Teacher Development Initiative is an exciting and innovative opportunity for teachers, designed to foster excellence and support the growth and development of our teachers in high priority curriculum areas and/or geographical locations. The program offers teachers a unique opportunity to be supported by the department to undertake University accredited study in the areas of maths and science teaching; developing their skills, knowledge and teaching practices in these areas. Many teachers currently delivering maths and science courses in our schools do not have a formal training background in this area. This initiative aims to assist in providing opportunities for teachers to undertake intensive up-skilling, allowing students greater access to qualified and experienced maths and science teachers.

Successful applicants will receive:

• Release time for Term 3 to undertake the formal study that is required
• Full pay for the term whilst undertaking this study
• Accommodation and meal allowances (where applicable)
• University fees paid for by the department
• Graduate Certificate qualification towards a masters qualification
