Maths & Science Teacher Development Initiative

Contact: Sarah Williams, Professional Learning Institute

Location: Statewide

Intended Audience: DoE Teachers

The Teacher Development Initiative is an innovative opportunity for teachers, designed to foster excellence and support the growth and development of our teachers in the high priority curriculum areas maths and science.

The program offers teachers a unique opportunity to be supported by the department to undertake University accredited study in the areas of maths and science teaching; developing their skills, knowledge and teaching practices in these areas.

Many teachers currently delivering maths and science courses in our schools do not have a formal training background in this area. This initiative aims to assist in providing opportunities for teachers to undertake intensive up-skilling, allowing students greater access to qualified and experienced maths and science teachers.
