As a new school year once again begins, it's timely to remind all students to be safe around school buses. We all want to see our see our children get to and from school safety.

The School Bus Safety Education Campaign (developed by the Tasmanian Government, together with the Road Safety Advisory Council, Metro and the Tasmanian Bus Association) continues to promote key school bus safety messages to students, teachers, parents and guardians, including:

  • Always walk on the footpath to the bus stop, never run.
  • Respect the 'Danger Zone' which surrounds all sides of the bus.
  • Always remain 10 steps away from the bus to be out of the 'Danger Zone' and where the driver can see you.
  • Never walk in front of a bus.
  • STOP, LOOK, LISTEN & THINK before crossing the road.

School bus safety educational resource packs continue to be in high demand and the school bus safety website continues to be a popular and engaging resource.
