Visiting Commedia expert Robin Davidson is in Hobart for the month of November, running a Commedia training project for professional performers. While here, he is available to teach a limited number of sessions for schools. He brings his own masks. In a session of 90 minutes to two hours, Robin will introduce students to the fundamentals of acting in a mask, and the stances, walks and history of the some of the more famous characters of the northern Italian Commedia tradition. Students will have a chance to briefly improvise scenes with these characters in front of their peers.

Robin has studied Commedia with numerous teachers, including John Rudlin (author of Commedia dell'Arte: an Actor's Handbook) in France, Antonia Fava in Italy, Giovanni Fusetti, Ira Seidenstein and Tony Kishawi. He has presented and performed at the only national Commedia dell'Arte conference held in Australia, and has directed six original Commedia plays.

The fee for a workshop of up to two hours, with a class of up to 30, is $200. Prices negotiable for larger groups or longer times.
