Intended Audience: Principals, HR Officers, School Library Staff

We'd like to invite you, or your nominated representative, to a workshop on the Future of the LIS Profession: School Libraries Report | Summary. In addition to those employed in school libraries in Tasmania, we are inviting education leaders from the Department of Education, Catholic Education Office of Tasmania, Independent Schools Tasmania and representatives from LINC Tasmania, University, TasTAFE, and Special Libraries Departments to attend.

As this report and its summary are timely and of immense value for wider discussion by school library teams and with executive leadership across the education systems in Tasmania, The Hutchins School Library K-12 team will host and facilitate a workshop to examine strategies and a call to action for the way forward. These strategies will include alignment of general education system-wide imperatives in Tasmania and the ALIA's Futures' Action List for school and college libraries with the LIS profession.

ALIA's Damian Lodge (President) and Sue McKerracher (CEO) will both be attending as they will be leading the annual meeting of the National Advisory Congress (NAC) which follows on from 5pm. Refreshments will be served.

The Workshop will be held at The Hutchins School, 71 Nelson Road, Sandy Bay, on Wednesday 23 July, 3.30-5pm. Please RSVP by cob Friday 11 July to sally.murdoch@alia.org.au
