Setting up for spelling success: knowing what to teach and how to teach it
Presented by Christine Topfer

Developing a curiosity about words and how they work is the key to a successful spelling program. Each student needs to develop a growth mindset where they see spelling as a thinking activity in which they can succeed. This workshop will explore how you can set up for spelling success through developing a classroom culture which supports the rhythm of thoughtful learning about words.

We will explore these ideas:
• Finding out where learners are in their learning
• Spelling strategies to guide thinking about words
• Exploring the spelling, reading, writing connection
• Using reflective conversations to improve word study

No matter where you teach, you will find this workshop useful as you set up your students for spelling success.

When: Saturday 2nd August, 9.30am-1.00pm
Where: Tattersall's Park Function Centre, Glenorchy
