Safety and Awareness Program for deaf students

Intended Audience: Schools with a deaf or Hard of Hearing student

During the month of May, Deaf Children Australia (DCA) will be running a competition for deaf and hard of hearing students in primary and secondary schools around Australia. We are asking schools, classes, groups or individuals to submit a creative piece that represents their interpretation of the safety issues for deaf and hard of hearing children.

Entries must relate to the subjects of:
  • Travel Safety
  • Bullying
  • Mental Health
  • Drugs and Alcohol
Entries will only be received in the following formats; three minute videos, photos, poems or posters. First and second prizes will be awarded for the two categories (primary and secondary school) nationally. The prizes are:

1st Prize
Single User Safe Licence (or renewal) for one year + 12 hours of program delivery support from DCA staff.

2nd Prize
Single User Safe Licence (or renewal) for one year.

Each entry must be accompanied by an Entry Form and must be received by Deaf Children Australia no later than 30 May 2014. Further information about the competition is detailed in the Teacher Guide.
