RU OK? Foundation, the Phoenix Centre and other Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Community Network (TSPCN) organisations are joining forces this year to promote and participate in RU OK? Day activities on September 11.

RU OK? Foundation are an independent, not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to help end suicide by empowering people to make a difference, encouraging open and honest conversation, whilst driving real connection. Our national day of action, RU OK? Day, and associated programs align with the LIFE Framework and are designed to play an active role in reducing suicide by de-stigmatising, help-seeking and encouraging meaningful conversations every day.

The Phoenix Centre is a complementary service within the Migrant Resource Centre, a politically independent, non-profit community organisation that provides support for adults and children from any country who have fled persecution, torture and war-related trauma to find safety in Australia. One of the projects within the Phoenix Centre is the Community Connections Suicide Prevention project and our aim is to increase capacity to be aware of and respond to suicidal ideation among members of our communities.

Over the past 2 years we have held RU OK? Day events targeting Tasmania's refugee/migrant/asylum seeker background community members, and also the mainstream population. This year we would like to include the broader Tasmanian community. We have, therefore, joined forces with the Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Community Network, and are banding together to make RU OK? Day bigger than ever in both Hobart and Launceston.

We wish to encourage all High School, District High schools & Colleges to participate.

The plan is to meet in Oatlands for a breakfast, then have 2 convoys; one heading to Launceston, and one to Hobart where we will have events in both cities.
