On behalf of the Northern Tasmanian Waste Management Group, I would like to introduce you to an exciting event happening in our local area on Saturday 26th October the Garage Sale Trail.

There are around 7.4 million garages in Australia. What if every single one of them had a Garage Sale on the same day? That's the idea behind the Garage Sale Trail!

The Northern Tasmanian Waste Management Group is participating in the Garage Sale Trail, as a fantastic way of promoting recycling and sustainability, bringing together local residents and community groups and having a bit of fun. We want to give you the opportunity to get involved in an event that is all about the local community, while raising funds to support the great work your school does.

If the 2012 Garage Sale Trail is anything to go by, there will be pop-up record stores, art shows, bike sales as well as your classic clothes and bric-a-brac sales. To see what happened last year or to find out more, head to garagesaletrail.com.au.

As a school, you are an integral part of our local community. By getting involved in the Northern Tasmanian Waste Management Group's Garage Sale Trail, you will be given the opportunity to further connect with our local community members, and reinforce the important role that your school plays within our community.

By participating in the Garage Sale Trail you will also have the opportunity to raise funds for your school, getting some publicity for your cause and to have a little fun!

The Garage Sale Trail can be used as an opportunity to bring your local community together, and host a combined Garage Sale on your group's premises. For example, what if every student brought along three unwanted items to create a "Mega Garage Sale", with all proceeds raised going to restocking the school library or refitting the computer labs?

If you would like to hold a Garage Sale on Saturday 26th October, register your sale on garagesaletrail.com.au site from 5th August 2013.
