Innovative (and FREE!) 7-day Drawing Festival for all ages, as part of the international BIG DRAW festival, faciltated by arts educator Bradfield Dumpleton. Focus on collaborative drawing & brain connectivity. All information and booking details are on the website.

Local arts educator Bradfield Dumpleton launches his latest creative brainchild – thiNK – a free drawing festival for people of all ages as part of The Big Draw international drawing festival 2013. The event will be held in The Thinkubator at Channel Court Shopping in Kingston between 7 – 13 October.

This new and inspiring event consists of a series of free, one-day drawing playshops open to 120 participants over the week. Participants will spend a day immersed in drawing games and activities designed to make them think and draw in new ways. Drawing (no pun intended) on The Big Draw theme of "Draw Tomorrow" the participants will draw interconnected panels to add to the Brain Tree, a huge evolving drawing mural.

The focus of the event is for participants to use drawing to think about connecting: connecting lines, ideas, people, synapses, community. Making creative connections in the brain has positive flow-on effects for health and wellbeing.

One of the highlights of thiNK is that has been developed to enable broad community participation. A day has been set aside for the very young (0-7), two days for kids aged 8 – 13 years, a day for young people 12 - 24, and a day for the young-at-heart aged 50 and over. On one of the days the Migrant Resource Centre will be bringing a group of young people from a range of cultural backgrounds along to participate. This will further enhance the cultural exchange.

The thiNK drawing festival will culminate on Friday 11 October with an official opening and exhibition of the completed mural and other artworks. It will then be open to the public the weekend of 12 & 13 October. During the open days there will be the opportunity for anyone to draw & contribute to the public artworks gallery. All information about the event can be found on the website.
