Meet the Neighbours

Contact: Launceston City Council's Customer Service Centre
P: 6323 3000 W: www.launceston.tas.gov.au

Location: Launceston Municipality
Dates: Aug - Dec 2013          Closing Date: until vouchers run out

Intended Audience: All Launceston municipality residents

Launceston residents are encouraged to meet with neighbours they have not had the opportunity to meet or with neighbours they wish to know better as a way to develop the type of social relationships most useful at time of crisis or emergency.

This is an initiative of the Launceston City Council supported by Disaster Resilient Australia and IGA. Research shows that strong and cohesive communities rely on good neighbour relationships. Also and most importantly people who form good social relationships with friends, neighbours and family live better, are healthier and feel safer. At times of disaster, these special relationships may be the most valuable resource left.
