'Fascinating Fashions' intergenerational, recycling project

Contact: Robyn Carney, Community ArtLink Coordinator, Uniting Aged Care Southern Tasmania

Location: Rosetta, Berriedale, Sandy Bay, Mornington and Sorell
Dates: August & September 2013       Closing Date/RSVP: 1 October 2013

Intended Audience: School groups who would like to join us in creating a garment from recycled materials or enter their own piece in the fashion parade (held Friday 11 October at Rosetta.)

Recycling meets creativity, fun and imagination.

The Fascinating Fashions project is playful, fun and challenging and aimed at bringing together a wide variety of people from our community. We particularly welcome parents or grand parents who attend with their children or grandchildren to join in the fun of creating Fascinating Fashions.

We invite you to join with one of our groups, which hold weekly workshops at each of 5 residential care facilities, in creating a variety of innovative garments or enter your own original piece in the fashion parade.

Uniting Aged Care (Southern Tasmania) is holding a fashion parade, a "Fascinating Fashions Feast" at 2pm, October 11th 2013 at Strathaven (9 Strathaven Drive, Rosetta).

Entries in the "Fascinating Fashions Feast" will be assessed for their imaginative approach and innovative use of materials. Cash prizes will be awarded by independent judges for the best garment, the most surprising or innovative use of materials, as well as a people's choice award.

FREE WORKSHOPS run weekly at 5 Uniting Aged Care residential sites throughout August and September. School groups are welcome.
