Intended Audience: All adults who support students who struggle with literacy and/or numeracy

Catch Up Literacy and Catch Up Numeracy are one-to-one interventions that are easy to manage, deliver and sustain. They use proven strategies which are underpinned by rigorous academic research and are targeted to the needs of individual students.

Learners on Catch Up Literacy and Catch Up Numeracy make twice the normal rate of progress.

Significantly improve the achievement of students who find literacy or numeracy difficult and encourage learning through success with these proven interventions. Complement current practices and maximise effective use of your existing resources and apparatus.

Both interventions can be delivered by teachers, aides, volunteers, carers or mentors. The 3 half-day hands-on sessions cover:
  • assessing literacy or numeracy skills
  • delivering the Catch Up individual sessions
  • ongoing monitoring and management
Between each session, the trainees complete short follow-up tasks and practise the Catch Up skills.
