Level 1 Surf Coaches Course

Level 1 Surfing Coaches Course as required by DOE OE Guidelines for teachers who wish to take Surfing Activities

42 South Surf School will conduct a National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) level 1 Surf riding Coaching Accreditation Courses in 2013. These courses will cover the necessary theory components of the NCAS and the level 1 sports specific requirements of Surfing Australia. Participants will then be required to complete the necessary practical hours. NCAS approved courses are recognised internationally and nationally as the standard for coaching.

Course contents:
  • the role of the coach
  • surfing injuries & prevention
  • program planning
  • skill acquisition
  • basic instructional methods
  • equipment
  • demonstration procedure
  • physical conditioning
  • duty of care (legalities)
You will need to bring your own surfboard, wetsuit, towel etc as some sessions are practical and you will be required to enter the water. You should also bring a pad and pen. The course fee pays for: Australian Coaching Council Accreditation (2 years), course manual, course notes, venue hire, lecturers, and lunch Saturday. (* NOTE: Basic Surfing ability is a requirement of the qualification)

Course Fee:
$400.00. Full Time Students /Centre Link $350

Each course starts at 9.00am sharp and finishes at 4.00pm Saturday and 2.00pm Sunday. You should organise your own accommodation if required. Accommodation is available at Scamander Beach Resort phone 63725255.
